The Awesome Power Of Investing

Peter Sinclair : I am really thrilled to welcome John Burley to our LIVE CHAT today….

John Burley : Thank you Peter. It’s my pleasure to be here.

Peter Sinclair : The subject is “THE AWESOME POWER OF !” John, I would like to predicate today’s chat with the knowledge that I am going to refer constantly to a very powerful book called “The Richest Man In Babylon.”

John Burley : A marvelous book Peter if I may say so.

Peter Sinclair : Indeed. Just in case our readers are not familiar with this book, it was written by George S. Clason and was first published in 1926. Since that time it has sold millions of copies worldwide. In it he states: “Lo, money is plentiful for those who understand the simple rules of its acquisition.”

John Burley : One of my favorite subjects!

Peter Sinclair : John, I know this book is recommended reading for your students. I think, therefore, that we might follow Clason’s “Seven Cures for the Lean Purse” as our guide today at this LIVE CHAT.

John Burley : Sure.

Peter Sinclair : John, from your own personal experience as someone who was in a position to retire at 32 years of age, what does Clason mean with his number one cure: “Start thy purse to fattening?” Perhaps you could explain it in terms of another quote that he uses: “a part of all you earn is yours to keep” I know that’s a bit of a double-barreled question but it is all related.

John Burley : Peter, it’s actually a very simple idea that is universally powerful. The idea is that you take 10% of your gross income and place it into investments.

Peter Sinclair : What sort of investments?

John Burley : Most people do it in managed funds and things of that nature. This is what I call Level Four . Advanced investors, Level Five, radically advance the idea by making much higher rates of return.

Peter Sinclair : This is starting to get very interesting. Please go on John.

The Awesome Power Of Networking

This is the edited transcript of the LIVE CHAT conducted by:

Peter G. James Sinclair (http://www.motivationalmemo.com) with:

Bob Burg (http://www.burg.com)

The chat was scheduled for one hour and the subject was:

“THE AWESOME POWER OF

Peter Sinclair : Hi Bob, I just want to welcome you formally to our live chat today.

Bob Burg : Hello Peter. It’s a pleasure to be here.

Peter Sinclair : OK Bob, let’s get straight into it. Four decades ago a concept called “six degrees of separation” was announced. That concept stated that all of us, through our social networks, are within 5 or 6 connections with anyone else on the planet. I thought it was a pretty powerful statement Bob. How would that fact impact the power of as you know it?

Bob Burg : Peter, in my opinion, it pretty much shows that he or she who masters the art of building relationships is many, many steps ahead of the game.

Peter Sinclair : So is just about building relationships?

Bob Burg : will always be about people and not about things. No matter how good the things. It is not “just” about building relationships, as you said, but without the relationships nothing else happens.

Peter Sinclair : So if you were asked to define what would you write?

Bob Burg : I define “” as the cultivating of mutually beneficial give and take, win/win relationships. The emphasis is on giving. The “super networkers” who are the most successful networkers tend to be the biggest givers.

Peter Sinclair : So, with that in mind, is giving the only quality you’d suggest we develop to become more effective networkers?

Bob Burg : No, not at all. It just happens to be one quality of a successful networker.

Peter Sinclair : Bob would you please expand on that?

Bob Burg : Sure Peter. What a networker does is constantly reach out and develop “mutually beneficial,” give and take, win/win relationships with people. They do it on a continual basis. The successful networker does this by planting seeds wherever he or she goes. In essence, they are following an intelligent, workable, proven “system” for .

The Awesome Power Of Goal Setting

This is the edited transcript of our LIVE CHAT which was conducted by: Peter G. James Sinclair ( www.motivationalmemo.com ) with fellow Motivational Experts:

Richard Duszczak ( www.cartoonmotivators.com ),

Bryan Hall ( www.BryanHall.net ) and

Gary Simpson ( www.motivationselfesteem.com ).

The chat was scheduled for one hour and the subject was:

“THE AWESOME POWER OF

Gary Simpson : Hi all. I’m ready to go.

Peter Sinclair : Richard, Bryan and Gary. In your own words, what would you say a goal is?

Richard Duszczak : Hi Peter, my idea of a goal is something to aim for which presently seems out of reach. It is something that will keep us moving forward.

Bryan Hall : I would say a goal is a level of achievement we strive for. Something we wish to attain, backed with intention.

Gary Simpson : To answer the question, I’d say it is something you aspire to.

Peter Sinclair : What is so important about ? Is it really necessary? Or is it just a lot of hype that keeps us motivational speakers paid?

Gary Simpson : Having goals will prevent you from being one of life’s drifters or what I call a “gunner”. “One day I’m gunner do this and I’m gunner do that.”

Bryan Hall : It’s absolutely necessary. We need them to have a sense of direction, for one thing. If it keeps you paid, that’s probably an achievement of one of your own goals, Peter.

Peter Sinclair : So Gary, when you set a goal, how do you go about it?

Gary Simpson : I usually write things down. I’m a big writer. When I have it on paper it becomes real.

Peter Sinclair : And Bryan, do you have a particular method that has helped you in the area of personal ?

Bryan Hall : I lean towards writing things down, too. I’ve been an aspiring writer since before I could walk, I think. I decided in the second grade that’s what I would be. Writing things down and visualizing myself having already achieved that goal. There’s a lot of power in writing it down. Visualization then acts as reinforcement.

Peter Sinclair : Richard, from talking to you in the past I know you had to overcome a lot to become a motivational cartoonist. How did help you? Do you have any tricks that you can share?

Richard Duszczak : I write out goals and illustrate them with simple little cartoon drawings. I am a visual man, I suppose.

The Awesome Power Of The Entrepreneur

Before I started our OE Design I conducted a number of live chats. I have just recently uncovered these, and the information is still relevant today – so I thought I’d add them to our OE Design blog for the benefit of our readers.

This is the edited transcript of the LIVE CHAT conducted by:

Peter G. James Sinclair ( http://www.motivationalmemo.com ) with:

Brad Sugars ( http://www.bradsugars.com/ )

The chat was scheduled for one hour and the subject was:

“THE AWESOME POWER OF THE

Peter Sinclair : Hi Brad. Welcome to our live chat.

Brad Sugars : Hi Peter. Thank you. It’s great to be here.

Peter Sinclair : Brad, just to inform our guests I think we should give them a little bit of background on you.

Brad Sugars : Sure.

Peter Sinclair : Brad Sugars is the International Chairman of one of the fastest growing businesses on the globe. He started out with absolutely no capital and had his first at age 15. Brad retired financially as a millionaire when he was just 26. Today he calls himself a “Billionaire in Training.” He is well on his way to that first billion. Welcome Brad, it’s a pleasure to be able to share this next hour with you at this month’s MotivationalMemo Live Chat.

Brad Sugars : Thanks Peter and thanks for the introduction.

Peter Sinclair : My pleasure. Brad, to commence today’s Live Chat can I ask you for your definition of an ?

Brad Sugars : Perhaps I could answer your question in three parts. First, an is a visionary. Second, an remembers that profit is the goal. Third, an is what I call a “can do” type person. What I mean by that is a person who makes the vision become real whilst at the same time returning a profit on that vision.

Peter Sinclair : In your view, what would be the major reason for anyone to want to become an ?

Brad Sugars : I think we are all born with a little bit of the entrepreneurial spirit in us. The major driving force behind most entrepreneurs that I have met is a desire to do something that no one else has done before. That may be a desire to achieve more than others thought possible and a desire to play the game they love – the game of .

Peter Sinclair : Would you say it’s the pioneer spirit that makes up the ?

Brad Sugars : Indeed, but it doesn’t always have to be in a new field. It could be a way of doing something new in an old field. Most entrepreneurs are the ones who see an opportunity and have the gumption to step up and do something about it.

Peter Sinclair : Like spotting the gold in a previously mined gold mine? Doing things better, using better technology, better ideas?

Brad Sugars : Or even simply better service, better sales or better marketing.

There Is Nothing Permanent Except Change

Many years ago Heraclitus wrote ‘There is nothing permanent except .’

Nothing much has changed.

So when my friend and respected mentor, Peter Irvine, who is the Co-Founder of Gloria Jean’s Coffees, author of “Win In ”, consultant and speaker wrote the following article, I couldn’t wait to share it with you.  Peter explains in five easy steps how we in need to ‘Stop And When Necessary’.

Enjoy!

One of my favourite sayings is: “If the horse is dead, dismount”

There are people in and life everywhere who find it hard to recognize when the horse is dead!

The current economic market either stalls companies or they make changes. This is a great time to market differently or stand out in a different way.

I have experienced many difficult times but have seen the businesses that make changes succeed, then grow and accelerate in the good times that follow.

People have asked ‘How do I know whether to persist or stop and ?’

1. Go back to the original vision and purpose

If your original vision is the right one, don’t throw it out – look at what you are actually doing to fulfil that vision. The purpose does not , however the methods we use do. In advertising when a retail promotion for McDonald’s did not work we did not persevere we made changes and moved on, the character of McDonald’s family restaurants did not , just the one promotion.

2. is inevitable – so GET USED TO IT!

If you want to build anything to last – a , a strong family, a company department, a powerful life-testimony – it will need room to grow, to and evolve in the process. If you don’t your work practices as you grow –e.g. if you keep the same products and packaging, the same programs or services without variation, stifle people in their jobs by not allowing them to grow and develop, then things will either stagnate and die, you will lose customers, or you will lose your most promising staff to other businesses where they can grow.

If you want a bigger , you will need to look at constant ways to and improve, nothing stays the same forever.
